Our house has asbestos cement siding in fairly good condition. We recently had an addition built and wanted it to match. I have been siding the addition with a product that GAF makes specifically for this purpose. This product looks just like the original but contains no asbestos. GAF has a website that tells a little about this product. They use the name "Cal Rancho" or "Purity." They come in straight or wavy bottom. The stuff is not cheap. They come in bundles of 18 (1x2 shingles) for about $85. With tax that comes to about $5 per piece. But I'm happy that I am able to make the addition match without residing the entire old house.
