I recently talked to an acoustical engineer who specializes in commercial sound proofing. He said blowing foam or fiberglass into the joist space dos little to stop sound. My father is a carpenter and has tried this in apartment buildings and condos to reduce sound. He confirmed that the improvement is minimal.
