I have the same type of door opener. Mine quit this evening after nearly 12 yrs. of service. I hear the motor running constantly but the chain is not moving. I removed the cover to find a couple of stripped plastic gears. After checking out some info. on the net, I found that my Craftsman 1/2 HP is manufactured by Chamberlain and the gear kit is available for about $30.00 or so. Due to the age of the door opener... I think I'll just purchase and install a new one.
