I would like to know what is the value in keeping the heat on. We have always kept the house at 40 degrees in the winter so that the plaster etc. won't get below freezing but with the high cost of fuel I wonder if it is worth it. We have average furniture in there, ceramic tile bathrooms, hardwood floors and plaster walls. The house is about 20 years old. It is in the heart of the snow belt so there is often about 3 feet at least of snow up against the house. Would love someones input.
