Kathy; I had the same problem in the past. The door would activate by itself and makes for bad home security. Sometimes the local power company may have power spikes, which they of course will deny ever happens to them.This tricks the circuitry of the opener and activates it. The solution is as simple as protecting your computer. I purchased a single outlet surge protector and installed it on the plug that the opener plugs into. The protector will moderate any power surges. This eradicated my problem
