Need some advise on the best way to insulate the crawlspace for a house built in 1969 on a pier & beam foundation. The crawlspace is approx. 18" off the ground; the piers are concrete and the beams are wood. The floorjoists are 2X6's. Since this is a two story house the air conditioning ducks are run in the crawlspace too.
I think we could use R-19 batts with the vapor barrier turned toward the living area and put chicken wire or equivalent between the joists to hold the insulation up. I've also thought about a foil shield product coving the joists without the insulation.
