how 2 clean used bricks?

I just bought a homesite that had a 100 plus year old home that was burnt down 2 months ago. It had 3 chimmneys with a total of 5 fireplaces {2 story house} .It has old pretty bricks that I would like to save. I worked all day cleaning bricks ,all I accomplished was 65 bricks. what is a good fast way to clean bricks?
