Hi", Geralyn, Lest say you want to level a ceiling in a room that is 20ft wide. now get some clear plastic pipe about 1/2" or 3/4" ( about 25ft in length ) mark the pipe with a pen ( a nice straight mark and no too thick) about 12" from the top of one end.( but before you do that ) messure from the ceiling down 5ft and put a mark on the wall, now put the mark that you have on the pipe to the line you have on the wall, now the other end should also be about 5ft from the ceiling on the other side of the room, fill the pipe with water, slowly till the water comes up to the mark on the pipe, and in doing so, the other end will also fill up to the level you have on the wall,. When the water in the pipe has stoped bobing up and down, you have the hight you want ( 5 ft) you can rase or lower the end that has no mark, and so now you can mark the other end of the wall
