With a home of that era it is doubtful whether there is any weather vapor which seves to protect the walls from exterior moisture from entering. Also it is very unlikely for there to be a vapor barrier which protects the wall assembly from the moisture of the interior accumualating in the wall. SO do you want to reside the home and install a weather barrier? If so I suggest also to install a rain gaurd type secondary moisture barrier. Or do you want to replace the interior wall and install a continuous vapoor barrier. This opion allows you to not distured the the rustic exterior look of the walls while giving you the oppertunity to add insulation to the wall cavity and to modernize the interior with drywall.
