Hello, we are going to install a pedestal sink in our newly remodeled bathroom. Right now we have a vanity there which hides the plumbing. The shutoffs for the sink are not in the vanity, there is just a hot and a cold coming out of the wall, then the two flex hoses that connect to the faucet. Also the drain pipe extends out about 10 inches or so from the wall before it connects to the trap.
My question is: Should the shutoffs be moved upstairs or are they o.k. in the basement? Also, can the drain pipe be cut and reconnected to the trap by the average homeowner? As always..any help would be greatly appreciated! -Steve
