I added my modem jack exactly as BC stated, but I ran into one snag I had to figure out. My house the existing jacks were wired in series. I had to remove all the existing wall plates and connect the yellow and black wire at each jack downstairs and upstairs to be able to use the second line in the upstairs computer room. Wasn't much trouble at all once i realized why it wasn't working. Hope that helps
