Help.?? Posted by John 2000 on February 7th, 2001 04:06 PM In reply to need to bend wood - help! by Howard Brooks on February 7th, 2001 03:32 PM [Go to top of thread]
Hi", Howard, lots of hot water, and slowly bend it into shape by using a jig...or you can use plywood built up in layers of 1/4" thick, staple the ply to the shape you require, the waterproof glue, and do the same again building up on the layers till you have the right thickness, the glue will hold the plywood to the shape, and you can nip the staples off. I normaly tape the last layer to the shape, if its a hard wood finish.. just for fun, make yourself a coffee table, about 18"across, using the same system as I've said this way you will learn how it will go together. normaly you get a 8 x 4 panel. with the grain going the 8'run, try to get a panel that has the grain going the 4' way,( its easy to bend.)....John 2000
