Need help patching a drywall wall.

Here's what I've done. I cut out a 7"x25" hole.
It extends beam to beam horiz and enough to cover the
hole vert. I cut out a piece of 5/8" drywall and
nailed in. The problem is that it doesn't look very
good, even after painting. The paint color is right,
but it's still pretty evident that the piece was
put in. Any tips? If not, where would I go to look
for some? Thanks in advance.
