Spraying the brown area with paint is a sorry way to make repairs. You first need several coats of a good Primer like kilz BIN. Then after dry, apply the finish coat of paint in a square painted pattern with feathered out edges.
Also, do not pay an electrical for hooking up the door bell and all that. Go to a home center and get the remote door bell that runs off batteries. Very cheap and works great. Just hange the door bell switch with its battery then hang the chime equipment and walla, a 20 minute job.
