Hi", Linda,
You use the word planks, ( so I am thinking they are
rough sawn planks.?)
if so then I myself would paint the whole ceiling
black ( mat/undercoat/dull ), but before you do that
fix some laths onto the ceiling at every 24inches
( 2ft c/c) then paint it all black.
Then, fix the first plank 1/2" from the wall. then the
next plank 1/2" from that. ( make a spacer "1/2" ) then
then carry on till you are about 2ft from the end wall
then space it out so it looks even.. Enjoy..John 2000
