Stucco and termites

I've had a problem of termites crawling behind stucco finished
off below grade and attacking my home. I am considering "cutting"
the stucco several inches above grade. Has anyone had a similar problem?
Has anyone ever had their stucco cut above grade to fix a problem like
this? If so, how does the job look when finished?
