What you are looking for is a Pocket Door. While the framing for them is similar, individual manufacturers designs may require slightly different framing. I suggest that you pick out the door at the Home Center first and be sure that the one you choose comes with complete instructions, including drawings of the required framing. By the way, I rank pocket doors as being about as inconvenient as bi-fold doors over the long run but recognize that there are some places where they are the only choice.
