I brought this up once before but I am nearing the point wear I will be ready to do something. Tell me why a clear acrylic caulk (with silicone) cannot be used between large gaps in my hardwood floor. The point is that this will be a small commercial deli/coffee house, and I wish to have this floor look very rustic. I do not plan on filling the many nail holes either. These gaps are quite large sometimes 1/4"- 1/2" due to the 3 1/2" planks had some underlayment and tile on top of it. When I pulled it off the tops over some of the groove came off with the underlayment (overlayment?) My plan would be to finish sanding then go around and "almost" fill the gaps with clear acrylic caulk like "White Lightning" and then finish with polyurethane. I figure the caulk will give with movement and is clear so most of the groove remains visable. Someone said I shouldn't do this, but honestly, the more I think about it I can't think of a good reason not too. What does everyone say?
