paint vinyl siding

I have a slate blue vinyl siding on my home and it looks like it is fading in areas. I have thought about painting it because I am getting tired of the color anyway. Needing a face lift bad. So what type of paint do I need to get and what other preps would be good to do before I paint. Thanks
