Has anyone successfully painted over calcamine-painted ceilings? Calcamine is chalk paint used before the 1940's on ceilings. I've scrubbed off as much as I can, but it's impossible to remove it all. Zinsser Bullseye 123 primer (latex primer recommended for chalky surfaces) will not adhere to it. drywall mud adheres to small areas, but I can't skim coat the entire ceiling of my house. Is there some product that will soak in and seal this stuff?
