Sorry; wrong on both objections. Any smooth surface is more slippery than say carpet or grid plate. That said, The wear surface on laminate flooring is made up of aluminum ozide, same stuff as sand paper is made of. The surface of the better brands comply to ADA friction/traction and are less slippery than linolium, vinyl and waxed hardwood flooring. Water damage in a stair well .... well I don't think so. Flooding will damage laminate flooring and carpet and hardwood. I personally don't think laminate or engineered floors or other floating floor should be installed in a bathroom or other wet places. Most other indoor sites are fine. I will respond with an e-mail of my thoughts about floating floors in general and laminates in particular to interested parties.
