Abdi; If the opener is mounted solidly to the joists, then the vibrations of the motor would be transmitted directly to the joists, and floor and room above. If you have sufficient headroom clearance, you could try to fashion anti-vibration isolating mounts for the motor. Another thought, different models of openers/track drive systems have different noise levels. I've heard that belt drive systems are the quietest. BobB
