We're in the same boat, but after reviewing the heating effect of the covers we are going to sand blast the paint off and paint with metal radiator paint to leave a bright finish. Dull paint with covers waste tons of money. We are building front faces that are 8 inches off the floor and have an oak frame with metal grid fronts, but no top - only using where we need a block from the front - good luck. David
