I was looking into a floating floor covering, 1/4 to 1/2 think that glues together on a tongue and groove method. Put over felt, for protection of underlyment. Also 1/4 gap around edge for expansion and contraction. Saw it on some home do-it-youirself show. (I think it was Hwo-to-Crew)
Cost for refinish is 500.00 and that won't take care of the gaps between boards I have. This seemed a viable alternative, still preserving the floor underneath if I or anyother home owner wants to refinish down the road.
