Hey Rick, I hope you see this late follow-up. We built a new glass house (windows, BIG windows everywhere. We built a 2-story tudor style with a full basement. 2300sf. Looked at many heating plants. Decided on a GEOTHERMAL heat pump furnace. Here in Ohio, yearly temps go from -10 to 100. furnace works GREAT. Has electric back-up heat(that never comes on) plus heats our hot water tank from leftover energy. Our bills average $95 a month for EVERTHING. Cost is about $4000-$6000 more than a convential heat pump unit. But with those type of electric bills our payback on the additional amount was 5 yrs.
