being the installer that i am my first check would be to go to the center of the room, get a good grip on a on several srands of carpet and step back from the area that you have choosen then pull up on the carpet, if the you are able to pull the carpet up more than inch or so it needs to be restretched. the old timers that i learned the trade from say you stretch an inch for every ten foot. good luck
