I want to re-insulate my upstairs attic with fiberglass batts. My attic is wired with NM cable running accross the joists. I wanted to put two layers in(the second running perpendicular to the first one). To do this I would have to sandwich in the existing cable, junction boxes and ceiling boxes. I know your supposed to keep insulation at least 3 inches away from any recessed lighting but was wondering if there is any problem covering up the NM cable or boxes with the insulation batts. Any concern about heat or fire hazard? Thanks.
