Toilet Stain - Porcelein Stain Removers

Could some one tell me how to clean the ring around the toilet bowl as well as stains from pots and pans on a porcelein sink.

I have heard of something like a nonabrasive wire-looking, flat sheet that you can cut the amount you need and use in both places.

What is it called? And where do you find it?
