We are having new kitchen cabinets installed (light oak). My wife wants a ceramic floor. I was hoping for wood. Reasons- She likes elegant look of tile. I like the warmth and softness of wood (18 month old child too). If we went with wood, we already have wood behind the kitchen "L" walls in the living and dining room, which are 40 years old. It's unlikely to match them. Would completely un-matching wood floor in the kitchen vs. living and dining room look ridiculous?
Also, should I attempt wood floor installation? I've refinished before, but haven't installed wood.
