Karen, please go to www.eNature.com , then click trees, then search for "Oregon". Now you will know when you ask the old timer at an independent lumber yard whether when another old timer said the wood was "Oregon" he meant that it was Oregon Ash or Oregon White Oak or could than mean either. My guess is that it could be either since those woods would be pretty hard to tell apart without some serious testing. Could be something else too. Local usage can be pretty local. I'll check with a buddy out that way too.
