The newly painted new cedar single on a new addition have an extremely rough texture and highly raised grain (on many, but not all shingles). Could this be the result of either that the siding was left unprotected and unprimed since last fall until now (this is in Northern New Jersey) or that they were primed with a latex primer? Or should I believe my contractor who tells me all new painted cedar shingles are like that and that the reason the rest of my house's shingles are smoother is because they have been painted many time. What is the cause of this extremely unattractive situation and does anyone know a solution that I can request my contractor to perform to rectify this? Thanks
