I just bought a new (old) house and I took down some mirrored tiles above my fireplace. Much to my dismay, the plaster came with it. Behind the single layer of white plaster is a layer of what looks like concrete. It seems past water damage has caused the concrete to crumble--I can rub my hand over it and bits come off quite easily. What can I do to repair this area? It's about 5' wide by 4' high.
