Josh: This must be the day for fan questions :) If you bought the style of fan with a remote control mounted in the bonnet of the fan, then you don't need the red wire. Just put a wire nut on it, and fold it back into the ceiling box. It is meant for wall switch control of the light unit that hangs on the fan. But your remote does this job for you and you don't need the red wire. BobB
