there is nothing easy about carpet laying. Mainly because I have a bum knee. You need to get some things in order, remove the base board or at least the 1/4 round. Install carpet tack strips if not there. Install a good pad. Then rent a knee kicker stretcher. Buy a good utility knife with a hook blade. then start in one corner preferably the most traffic area and work to a non traffic area. You might want to hire a installer to help you. Like any jobs your hire out, if you have most of the leg stuff done, then the installer can come in and do his/her thing and be out faster than if he/she has to move furniture, lay pads, remove molding and stuff.
