Recently I purchased a home in upstate New York Aug.'97. I had the home inspected prior to purchase but what I could not forsee was that the septic system was faulty the inspector used a die to test the system but that test is not valid. The septic has to be in use constantly for that test to work. If the seller doesn't use the system for a while it is dry and the two hours or so that the water is running will not show on the surface. It was suggested by the service I used to pump my tank that to test septic systems you need dig it up and remove the cap, have it pumped at the same time. The reason for my writing you is that a friend on mine told me you had a new septic system shown on your show. I need a new septic system and possibly fields also. The septic system I own passed the inspectors die test but is in such horrible shape (upon visual inspection) it needs to be replaced, it actually suffered a collaspse and one of the previous owners simply replaced the cap and covered it up. All of the debris from the collaspe is in the tank. So I need to know what is new in septic systems. Thanks!
