I don't know of a grinding source off the top of my head in your area anyway. Use a straight edge and feeler gauge to check the flatness as your are working and if you do start seeing more than .005" across any dimension, you really should consider grinding. Block sanding will be a big help too, not just holding the paper in your fingers. Rubber cementing emery cloth to a birch plywood or hardwood block should work.
