This page has always been too long/large for reliable reading with most browsers. I always come into it directly by going to:
http://www.bobvila.com/wwwboard/wwwboard.html, thus avoiding the worst of any potential "frames" problems. I also hit the "stop" button pretty quickly so that the entire page doesn't load and stress my old computer. Then, when I open a thread I right click on it and "open in a new window" so that I don't have to keep reloading the main board page. By doing these things, most of which I do for other sites as well, I entirely avoid any of the problems described by you.
