Bill, Sounds like your ice maker is froze up. Unless your sure that the solenoid is defective, 1/ check the ice maker and see if it has water in the maker part or does it have ice in there. 2/ If it has ice in there its probably froze up to the incomming line causing the water to flow into the freezer. 2/A/ By unpluging the refrigerator and allowing the ice to melt. This should cure a frozen up refrigerator freezer even though it might be self defrosting. 3/ However if you do need to change the solenoid valve it not to hard you just need to know how to use a phillips screwdriver,cresent wrench,and pliers. 4/ the solenoid is in the back bottom of the refer. Turn off water supply to the refer and unplug refer. 5/ Call or go to sears with your model,serial no.,year and make or refer. 6/ purchase valve , compare to the old part ,then remove and replace if there's a match.
