carpet stair treads

I am looking for resources, before I look for help. We are installing new steps in our entry way stairs, and are looking for carpet stair treads, or a runner if we can't find treads we like. But it seems treads are either industrial or plain, and we're revamping a victorian home. We'd prefer not to use a runner, but we checked many many carpet/ renovation stores, and no one seemed willing to try to track them down. We'd also like to not pay $20 per step- are there nice treads available for a reasonable cost? Or am I silly? Then, what's the best way to install treads and/or runners? Thanks!
