you should install the new bath tub directly over the old p trap thats in the floor. depending on what size the old trap is you can reduce the top or inlet of the trap with a fitting reducer to a 1 1/2 inch marvel fitting that will extend out of the floor about 2 inches on center of the new trip waste outlet. or change the trap under the floor to a 1 1/2 p trap with a reducer fitting if you cant get the height your looking for.fernco fitting or equivelent. and yes i am a plumber
