out there that I do not know about, you will have to install new rock in that spot. If the ever so crucial paper is removed, then nothing will stick to the plain old gypsum or chalk. The paper holds everything to the dry wall and with out it your in trouble.

This is something that people need to realize when stripping wall papering. Its so easy for this to happen.
