enclosing an exisiting porch

We live in a house built back in the 50's which has an exsisting 15'x 4'-6" front porch next to the living room. The roof and ceiling joist cover the porch which has a foundation and a slab floor. We would like to enclose it and remove the wall between the living room and the porch to increase our living room space which is 12 x 15. Aside from permits How do I go about enclosing the porch?
