walking pads on modified bitumen (rubberoid) roof

Contractor just installed "rubberoid" roof, which he says is the same as
modified bitumen. Installed with some cold adhesive onto the deck,
which has a low slope of about half inch to the foot. Then
he installed rubber pads, using some kind of adhesive (smells
like glue or solvent) where we occasionally step out onto this
roof. The edges of the pads all curled up overnight, and he
blames it on the pads, saying he will try to get them off and
p[ut down new ones. I'm concerned with whether these are
compatible systems and also whether moisture uner the pads
will over time lead to roof degradation. Appreciate quick
advice; he may be back any day. Thanks.
