Reinsulation of Attic

We have an old house built in early 1970's. We have
been in the house for approximately 6 years and have
never been in the attic since the day we moved in.
The attic vents on the outside needs major repairing
or replacing because the birds and squirrels have
damaged them and I believe have made a nest in the
attic. What can I do to get the animals/insects out of the
attic, have the outside vents repaired, and replace the
insulation? I have been to several websites to find quality contractors
that would do this sort of repair but they are out of
the area. I watch your show quite often, and learn great tips from you.
Please help! Attic attack!
