I'm building a new home and am thinking of siding it with vinyl. I have a concern about one aspect of the installation. I will be trimming the windows with 3.5 x .75" pine and was planning to but the vynil to this. I found some installation instructions which say to frame the window with J-Channel top and sides and use a special trim piece for the bottom to accept a cut piece of vinyl. I'm concerned about the top and sides mostly. In the instruction it says to fold the top piece of J- channel into the side pieces to allow water to run off of the top, but what happens to this water once it is traveling down the side pieces of J-Channel. It seems to me it would run down the side pieces directly under the vynil and damage the sheething below. Is my assumption correct? Could you help explain this?
