will enhance the walls. You could apply some crown moulding on the ceiling/wall intersection. You could wallpaper up three feet from the floor over the paneling and apply a chair rail moulding over the border and make a neat wainscotting affect.
Be sure to fill in the paneling cracks if you wallpaper.
