Man-made leather sofa

I have a hunter green man-made leather couch that needs to be freshened up.
The "vinyl" on the back and part of the seat is cracked. Can I use stain to
cover up those cracks?

I have had this couch for seven years. Is it worth my while or should I get
a new genuine leather couch?
