There are allot of people on this board that dislike laminate flooring and haven't ever had it or installed it, yet they draw a conclusions based on other peoples problems. There are many different name brand laminate floors but there are a hand full of names that everyone knows of, just like automobiles. So if we were on a message board that had to do with cars and someone had a problem with a Dodge Caravan, it doesn't mean that everyone was going too have that same problem. This is a post a posted a while back, I hope it answers your questions. There are allot of people on this board that have no experience working with or installing laminate, so since I do work with flooring everyday I will give you my two cents. I deal with all types of flooring everyday (hardwood, laminate, ceramic tile, natural stone, carpet, and vinyl flooring. I am not bias to any of them because they all have a plus and a minus to them, so to answer your question Pergo or any laminate flooring can go over tile, laminate floors are one of the most popular floors on the market right now, one reason is because of its easy maintenance. Do people have problems with laminate flooring ? Yes, the floor can scratch as can any other hard surface floor on the market. Can it buckle ? Yes if the floor doesn't have the proper expansion space around the perimeter, Hardwood can have the same problems, but you can refinish hardwood flooring, most people ever refinish their hardwood once and never again. Hard wood is forever and laminate has the similar look of hardwood and the easy maintenance. Jim
