Removing old fashioned wallpaper paste - try baking soda!

I had almost gone crazy trying to remove the paste left behind from old wall paper on my teak panelling. I used water, vinegar, solvents, etc. Then my wife suggested trying baking soda and water and it actually worked great!

Here's what I did - make a slurry using a cup of baking soda and a cup of water. Mix well and pour into a clean common garden sprayer. Add another quart of water and shake it up. Pump up the sprayer and give the wall a good soak. Use a rigid stainless steel putty scrapper to remove the glue - that's it.

Afterwards just give the walls a good wash with clean water, then with a little TSP in the water.
