Good advice by jb, but I'd like to add to it: A better gauge for testing downforce than a 2x4 is a full roll of paper towels laying on its side (not standing upright). This mimics the human body's "squeezability" better than a 2x4--after all, a 2x4 is more likely to withstand more pressure than a child's rib cage, so a roll of paper towels is probably a better stress test.
